The Fontainebleau Palace, lavishly built and
furnished in Renaissance period style, was a favourite hunting
residence of the French Kings. The apartments occupied by Napoleon
and those occupied by Pope Pius VII were recently restored and
are included in our tour.
Barbizon has been known as an artistic centre since the 19th
century thanks to Jean-François Millet and his friend-painters.
Nowadays, Barbizon is a residential village,
located at the edge of the Fontainebleau forest.
This tour includes :
A guided visit to the palace, free time to see its gardens, a
drive past Barbizon and a part of the Fontainebleau forest renowned
for its sandstone rocks.
